Level II Viewer Prototype

Check out this prototype for a new Level II viewer. The purpose of the viewer is to display the struggle between buyers and sellers and give traders a more intuitive sense of where the market is heading.

While obviously a bare bones implementation, this should be enough to convey the concept. There are many things that could be added, including:

  • Show detailed price info.
  • Allow horizontal (price) axis to be scaled based on a user defined measure of volatility.
  • User defined markers on price axis to indicate various interesting points (highs, lows, pivot points, etc.)
  • Show market makers in different colors, allow market makers to be filtered.
  • A loop mode, where the last n bids/asks are repeatedly displayed (think weather radar loop) to give a sense of market direction. This would be especially useful for less actively traded instruments.
  • Trade on the chart by clicking and dragging targets, stop loss levels, etc.
So what do you think? Would this tool contribute to your trading edge? This site is all about developing software in collaboration with users, so fire away!

Interesting, when will a beta be available? What is approx. 30 day cost?

I’ll have a beta ready in about two weeks. It will have the same features as shown on the video. If you’d like to be notified, send your email address to patrick@marketcontours.com. I’ll also post on the blog when it’s ready, if you’d just like to check back.

As for pricing, it’s too early in the process for that. What I’m looking for now are people who are willing to use the software and provide detailed feedback. If the tool generates enough interest, then I’ll start charging for it later.

So for now, use the software for free and do what you can to help make it better. Also, if you find the tool interesting it would be great if you could let others know about it.

BTW, what data provider do you use? Initially, the beta will work with opentick, but I’m open to supporting other providers.

Thanks for the reply Patrick. Presently I use IQFEED, which is a pain in the behind for L2 and T&S.

I’ll forward my addy for the beta, it looks like it may have potential.

    Thanks,
